The Lumenis Solution

Laser tattoo removal is a non-invasive, effective way to remove unwanted ink from the skin. The Lumenis Q-Switched Nd:YAG is very effective for the removal of dark tattoos and the safest for skin of color. These lasers use short pulses of light to break down tattoo ink into smaller particles that the body can naturally remove. It delivers maximum safety with a low risk of side effects or complication for the patient. Most tattoos will require multiple sessions to remove completely. The number of sessions needed will depend on several factors.

The factors that affect how many sessions are necessary

✅ The size of the tattoo
✅ The age of the tattoo
✅ The type of ink used and patient skin tone
✅ The color of tattoo

✅ The location of the tattoo

The average number of sessions needed

The average number of sessions needed for laser tattoo removal will vary depending on the size, location, and color of the tattoo. In general, however, a person can expect between 5-10 sessions to completely remove a tattoo. Some may require more, while others may require fewer.

  • A single session of laser tattoo removal will vary depending on the size and complexity of the tattoo. It’s also important to note that some people may need additional touch-up sessions after the initial treatment to ensure the complete removal of their tattoo.

  • The treatments should be spread out over a few months, with the final session happening at least 8 weeks following the first. Letting the body recover on its own, increases the likelihood that the tattoo will fade or disappear entirely.

  • People with darker skin tones may require more sessions due to increased melanin, which absorbs more laser energy and causes more heat. This can increase the risk of hyperpigmentation or scarring after tattoo removal by laser treatments.

After Care

After laser tattoo removal, it's crucial to follow specific aftercare instructions to ensure proper healing and minimize the risk of complications. These include keeping the area clean and dry, applying antibiotic ointment, covering with a bandage, and avoiding direct sunlight for several weeks. It's also important to avoid scratching or picking at the area, as this can lead to infection and scarring.
